Douglas County Chess Club will be sponsoring the Douglas County Open November 1-2, 2025 in the North Room at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center at 1329 Waterloo Ln, Gardnerville, NV. This will be a USCF rated 5 round SS, G/60. Rounds are Saturday at 8:15, 11:30 and 2:00, Sunday at 9:00, and Noon. USCF membership required, but we will be offering a free one year membership (or renewal) for all DCCC members, and any junior/senior (65+) residing in Douglas County. Cash prizes will be $300/$200/$100, plus $100 each for top under 21, under 16, and over 65. Contact chuck@giuas.com to register or get more information.
Douglas County Chess Club was founded in 2024 by a group of chess enthusiasts interested in advancing creative thinking through chess. The overarching goal is to create a safe and fun environment, where all ages of chess players can experience camaraderie and the intellectually stimulating benefits of chess.
Our vision is to advance creative thinking through chess. Our Mission is to provide a forum for the enjoyment and education of chess in Douglas County, Nevada. We are pledged to operate exclusively for informational, instructional, recreational, and social welfare purposes. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we will foster the development of members by promoting the joy, education, and artistry of the game of chess.
Douglas County Chess Club meets Fridays from 3:00-5:00 at the Douglas County Public Library located at 1625 Library Lane, Minden, NV 89423. Free for all! Classes will be conducted occasionally ranging from beginner to expert. Check out the Facebook page for exact dates.
